Our Mission
For more than 70 years, Beth Sholom’s mission has been to provide comprehensive, compassionate health care for individuals of all faiths in a campus environment and homelike setting.
While much has changed over the years, our founding principles have remained the same – to serve our residents with kindness, dignity, respect
History
Beth Sholom (“House of Peace”) opened in 1945 in the Fan District of Richmond, Virginia, as the first Jewish home for seniors in the state. Guided by faith-based values such as kindness, respect and patience, our facility was soon associated with compassionate nursing care. Beth Sholom moved to a larger campus in the West End of Richmond following a period of rapid growth.
Today, our community is composed of an independent living apartment complex (The Woods), two assisted living communities (Parkside and The Gardens), a Healthcare Center with skilled nursing and a full spectrum of rehabilitative care, Generations Home Health, and an Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic. Several of our facilities also offer dedicated memory care units.
“Quality of life and quality of care for residents is of the utmost importance. Our goal is always to maximize their potential.” – Robin Abbott, Administrator of The Woods
