Dear Residents and Family Members:
The challenges of a highly contagious virus continue to impact residents at Beth Sholom. This week, we have confirmed that six Gardens Assisted Living residents tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, everyone involved resides in the same area. If you have not been notified, you or your family member is not affected. The local health department has been notified and they are assisting us with contact tracing.
We have instituted our quarantine practices for the affected residents and have closed communal dining and small group activities. In accordance with CMS guidelines, we will be continuing our testing of residents and employees in the Gardens Assisted Living. The local health department will be assisting us on Tuesday, February 2 to do a house-wide testing of all our residents and staff at the Gardens. This type of surveillance testing provides us a snapshot of the status of all residents and staff of the facility at one time. When we have the results from this surveillance testing, we will of course share this with you.
There is a significant number of senior living communities in Henrico and throughout the state that are experiencing their second and third outbreaks of Covid-19 positive residents and staff. The positivity rate in the community is higher than ever before, and this continues to be very concerning. Our second vaccination clinic will take place on February 14th, and we are seeking 100% participation from our staff and residents.
Please be safe and follow the CDC guidance of wearing a mask, social distancing, and frequent handwashing.
