Dear Residents, Family Members and Staff:

Yesterday we learned of two new COVID-19 cases in our Healthcare Center, one staff member and one resident have tested positive for the virus.  We have notified all family members of those impacted and implemented our quarantine protocol for the resident and staff member involved.

While Virginia’s new cases per capita remain lower than 43 other states, all of the Commonwealth’s five health regions are experiencing increases in COVID-19 cases, positive tests, and hospitalizations. Virginia is currently averaging more than 3,700 new COVID-19 cases per day, up from a statewide peak of approximately 1,200 in May. Statewide test positivity rate is at 11 percent, an increase from 7 percent approximately one month ago. More than 2,000 Virginians are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 statewide, an increase of over 80 percent in the last four weeks.  Given the current positivity rate we will continue our weekly testing in the Healthcare Center.

This fight is not over.  We continue to be as vigilant as we can, and we ask that each of you do
the same.

In person visitation continues to be suspended in the Healthcare Center.  Please know that
virtual visits are available, and appointments can be made through our website .

For those of you who are celebrating Hanukah, I want to wish you and your families Happy Hanukkah.  We are looking forward to celebrating in person next year.

Please be safe and follow the CDC guidance of wearing a mask, social distancing, and frequent handwashing.

Thank you,
Morris S. Funk
