Dear Residents, Family Members and Beth Sholom Team:

We received some encouraging news this week following our point prevalence survey (PPS) conducted on July 6th. The test results for all our residents in the Healthcare Center, Parkside and the Gardens have come back negative. The results for the vast majority of our staff have also came back negative. Unfortunately, we are still waiting on the results for handful of our staff.  As you might have guessed, the lag time to get test results back appears to be growing again due to the amount of testing going on around the country.  We are doing everything in our power to get the remaining results back as soon as possible.  We will keep you informed as developments occur.

Fortunately, with the progress we have made to date, we are able to accept new residents. Each new resident is required to have a negative COVID-19 test upon admission and quarantine until a second negative is verified.

I am pleased to report that we received some good news from the Department of Homeland Security in the form of a grant to improve our security measures. The funds will enable us to expand our badging system, enhance our security cameras around the property and upgrade some of our outdoor lighting.  We are now in the process of determining the timing of those upgrades. In addition, we received a COVID-19 Communicative Technology Grant from the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance. With this funding we will be adding iPADs, wireless headphones and tripods to assist with our family virtual visits and our resident’s telemedicine appointments.

Please be safe follow the CDC guidance of wearing a mask, social distancing, and frequent handwashing.

Thank you,
Morris S. Funk
