Dear Residents and Family Members:
Over the past few days, we have been working with the Henrico County Health Department on a re-testing program for residents and staff in our Healthcare Center. While a large number of those tests came back negative, we have discovered that one member of our staff has tested positive. They have been sent home to self-quarantine for the next 14 days. We hope to complete this new phase of testing in the coming days. This is our second positive case in the past seven days. Both of the individuals are asymptomatic.
As we have noted, we continue to work closely with the Health Department over our testing procedures. We know many families have inquired about testing in our assisted living facilities. The Health Department does not feel it is necessary to test those residents since there are no cases in those buildings and no one has presented with symptoms. If that recommendation changes, we will be sure to update everyone.
We are also receiving a lot of questions regarding family visits. No one wants to offer the chance for families to get back together more than the staff at Beth Sholom. Unfortunately, state and federal guidelines are prohibiting it at the moment. As I noted in my earlier update, we need to experience 28 days of no positive tests before we can start a visiting program. Please be patient with us as we navigate this pandemic. We are on the back side of this curve and the last thing we want to do is start a new one.
