Dear Residents and Family Members:

We are now on day 39 of our COVID-19 response and we have some new developments we would like to share with you.  Beth Sholom now has a total of seven residents who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. We have now reached the point where every unit within our Healthcare Center has had a case that originated from that location. Once we have a confirmed case, the resident is moved to Unit 3. As we stated before, based on the advice from the Health Department, Unit 3 in the Healthcare Center will remain on isolation for the foreseeable future. All of the residents in that unit will remain on that floor and all staff that have been caring for those residents will continue in that role. No new staff will be introduced to that unit unless absolutely necessary. We also have a total of three staff members who have tested positive for coronavirus.  They have been placed in quarantine at home.

Like you we are concerned about the spread of the COVID-19 within our Healthcare Center. Fortunately, it’s been isolated to that one facility. We want you to know that we are working tirelessly to do everything in our power to protect our residents. We are working closely with local health experts on a daily basis to ensure that we are following the best practices available to protect everyone in our facilities.

As always, we remind you to send cards and letters to your loved ones. Video chats are becoming the craze among our residents, so if you haven’t yet, we would encourage you to give it a try. We understand how difficult this must be for you and your loved ones. Being separated from them for so long is tough.   As always, we are here to answer any questions you may have, and we thank you for your support during this difficult time.

If you are inclined to send in food or goodies for the staff, we ask that you coordinate that through an email to communications@bslcc.org.  Staff that monitor that email will work with you, so we avoid any duplications on a specific day or time.  Unfortunately, we do not have the time or resources to handle gift cards for the purchase of these items.

To stay informed, please continue to check our phone line (804) 421-5141 and website for updates, www.bethsholomliving.org . If you would like to receive updates by email, contact us at communications@bslcc.org and provide your name, the name of your loved one and the building where they reside.

Please be safe and follow the CDC guidance of social distancing, frequent handwashing and self-isolation.

Thank you,

Morris S. Funk
President and Chief Executive Officer
