Dear Residents and Family Members:

We are now on day 38 of our COVID-19 response and we have some new developments we would like to share with you. Two more Beth Sholom residents have tested positive for the coronavirus. The moment these residents started showing symptoms they were placed in isolation until they could be tested.  They have since been moved to Unit 3 where other residents with COVID-19 are being treated. We have been in contact with all of the families and plan to update them on a regular basis. Another member of our staff has also tested positive for coronavirus.  That individual is under house quarantine and is resting comfortably.

As we stated before, based on the advice from the Health Department, Unit 3 in the Healthcare Center will remain on isolation for the foreseeable future. All of the residents in that unit will remain on that floor and all staff that have been caring for those residents will continue in that role. No new staff will be introduced to that unit unless absolutely necessary.

For the past 38 days the team at Beth Sholom has been working tirelessly to do everything in our power to protect our residents. We are working closely with local health experts on a daily basis to ensure that we are following the best practices available to protect our residents and our healthcare workers on the front line. Our team remains diligent in a very challenging situation.

We understand how difficult this must be for you and your loved ones. Coping with news that more and more Virginian’s are contracting COVID-19 while being separated from loved ones for so long is hard. As always, we are here to answer any questions you may have, and we thank you for your support during this difficult time.

Please consider our virtual family visits as a way to connect with your loved one. You will find scheduling instructions on our website.

To stay informed, please continue to check our phone line (804) 421-5141 and our website for updates, www.bethsholomliving.org . If you would like to receive updates by email, contact us at communications@bslcc.org  and provide your name, the name of your loved one and the building where they reside.

Please be safe and follow the CDC guidance of social distancing, frequent handwashing and
self-isolation.

Thank you,
