Dear Residents and Family Members:

We are now on day 35 of our COVID-19 response and we have some new developments we would like to share with you. A few days ago, we made the decision to test all of our residents on Unit 3 in the Healthcare Center which is where our COVID-19 cases have originated. The results came back Sunday revealing three more residents have tested positive for the coronavirus. All three are receiving care at Beth Sholom and are currently quarantined in that unit. We have been in contact with all of the families and plan to update them on a regular basis. We also received word that a member of our staff has tested positive for coronavirus.  That individual is under house quarantine and is resting comfortably.

Based on advice from the Health Department, Unit 3 in the Healthcare Center will remain on isolation for the foreseeable future. All of the residents in that unit will remain on that floor and all staff that have been caring for those residents will continue in that role. No new staff will be introduced to that unit unless absolutely necessary.

We continue to work with local health experts on the best practices to follow to address this threat. Our team remains diligent in following our safety practices and the advice from the Henrico Health Department and the CDC. The leadership team at Beth Sholom is doing everything in our power to protect the residents in our care.

As always, we remind you to send cards and letters to your loved ones. Video chats are becoming the craze among our residents so if you haven’t yet, we would encourage you to give it a try. We understand how difficult this must be for you and your loved ones. Being separated from them for so long is tough.   As always, we are here to answer any questions you may have and we thank you for your support during this difficult time.

Thank you,

Morris S. Funk
